Workshops
The Sustainable Buildings and Construction
Initiative (SBCI) is a partnership between the United
Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the private sector, aiming
at promoting sustainable buildings, with a special
emphasis on minimizing their climate
change contribution, and on ptimizing the performance over the
entire life span of buildings. SBCI organizes every year in October
the SBCI
workshops presenting the work of SBCI and looking in more
depth on a special issue of relevance to SBCI.

Denver, Colorado - November 14-17, 2006
The workshop aimed to inform participants
at Greenbuild about ongoing international efforts that addresses
climate change within the building and construction sector.

SBCI Workshop in Changsha (China)
October
16-17, 2006
 The first SBCI Workshops
were organized in Changsha, China on 16-17 October 2006. At this
occasion the activities of SBCI since its inception in April were
presented and discussed (day 1), and the special theme for the
workshops, SBC in China, was presented in a special seminar (day
2). The SBCI
Board also had a board meeting on day 3. The proceedings from the
board meeting are accounted for in a separate report.
The meeting
was generously hosted by Broad Air Conditioning at its Broad Town
offices in Changsha. 49 participants from 14 countries participated
in the meeting, including 11 SBCI members.
The
meeting was co-chaired by the head for the Production & Consumption
Branch of UNEP, Mr. Arab Hoballah, and the SBCI Chairman, Mr.
Olivier Luneau, also Vice-President Public Affairs at
Lafarge.
