The property and the building sector and the Copenhagen Agreement
Official side event to the UNFCCC Climate Change Talks, Bonn, Germany, June 1-12
UNEP-SBCI held an official side-event at the UNFCCC Climate Change talks in Bonn, Germany, on June 3rd, 2009.
This side event presented recommendations from UNEP to UNFCCC delegations on how to capitalize on the potential of property and buildings to deliver significant greenhouse gas emission cuts. In order for the Copenhagen Agreement to best address this issue, SBCI submitted official input to the Ad-Hoc Working Group on Long- Term Cooperative Action under the Convention (AWG-LCA).
Hydro Aluminium, Inc. produced and presented SBCI Members’ ‘Call for Action on Buildings & Climate Change’ at the meeting. This Call describes the case for the building sector to be prioritised in the COP 15 and to support strategies, methodologies and mechanisms that will enable the sector to deliver deep cuts in greenhouse gas emissions.
