Policy Quick-Scan Tool
Enables national and local authorities to review current policy settings affecting the support for sustainable buildings practices (if any), and to identify interventions/changes that will generate substantial support to sustainable building practices.

UNEP’s Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (DTIE) in liaison with the Environmental Management Group (EMG) secretariat has set up a new team, Sustainable United Nations (SUN). SUN will provide advisory services and support to UN and large public organizations to reform towards climate neutrality, namely to reduce the generation of greenhouse gases.
The objective of SUN is twofold:
Support climate neutrality in the entire UN system: Provide the tools, methodologies, information and support necessary to enable all UN funds, agencies and programs to become climate neutral and more sustainable. Actively support UN organizations and UN duty stations to ensure uptake and implementation of the SUN approaches to implementation of the UN Climate Neutral Strategy.
Promote and support adoption and implementation of climate neutrality in organizations outside UN, in particular large public organizations in developing countries.
The GHG Indicator: UNEP Guidelines for Calculating Greenhouse Gas Emissions for Businesses and Non-Commercial Organizations can help organizations in estimating and reporting their GHG emissions, and so stimulate action on climate change.
The Guidelines provide a method for converting information on fuel and energy use readily obtainable by companies to estimated GHG emissions. The Guidelines provide a step-by-step approach based on easy to use worksheets. The Indicator can be applied at different levels of a company regardless of size or location, as well as government agencies, NGOs, and other entities interested in estimating their GHG emissions.
