The partnerships provide substantial support to SBCI, either by providing resources (experts, services etc), or through joint projects. Such joint projects should normally support the focus areas of SBCI, but may also focus on other subjects that contribute to the overall objectives of the initiative.

UNEP Financial Initiative
Working Group on Responsible Property Investment
This working group is coordinated by UNEP Financial Initiative. It supports the establishment of a global network of experts on investment strategies for sustainable buildings and construction. UNEP FI’s working group was convened for the first time in London 25-26 June 2006. SBCI was represented by Inhee Chung. At this time the basic structure for the working group was adopted.

Marrakech Task Force on Sustainable Building and Construction
Voluntary initiative lead by Finland
A Marrakech task force (MTF) is a voluntary initiative lead by a country - in cooperation with other partners - committed to carry out a set of activities which support the implementation of specific projects of the Marrakech Process. Main aim is to develop local and national policies and legislation to secure the sustainability of construction, use and maintenance of the built environment. The priority is: How can public policies and legislation promote energy efficiency, energy savings and use of renewable energy in the built environment? Some of the activities are: to develop a background data: mapping out the baseline condition and internal exchange of best and worst practices.

World Business Council for Sustainable Development
Energy Efficiency in Buildings (EEB)
Leading companies in the building, equipment and energy industries launched Energy Efficiency in Buildings (EEB) with the WBCSD in March 2006. The project brings together companies worldwide, which are determined to remove barriers to energy-efficient concepts in new and existing buildings.

Life Cycle Initiative
International Life Cycle Partnership for a sustainable world
Life Cycle Initiative aimed to develop and disseminate practical tools for evaluating the opportunities, risks, and trade-offs associated with products and services over their entire life cycle to achieve sustainable development. At its Phase 2 Life Cycle Initiative facilitates the use of life cycle approaches worldwide by encouraging life cycle thinking in decision-making in business, government and the general public about natural resources, materials and products targeted at consumption clusters.
Life cycle thinking put into effective practice benefits for Industries and Business by integrating the life cycle perspective in overall management and bringing product and process development in a more sustainable direction. The organization can harvest the benefits of environmental, occupational health and safety, risk and quality management, as well as developing and applying cleaner process and product options.
Governmental initiatives not only secure and strengthen the position of the industrial and service sectors in regional and global markets, but also ensure overall environmental benefits to society (balanced with economic and social aspects). By engaging in supportive programmes and initiatives to promote the implementation of life-cycle approaches, governments can show global responsibility and governance by sharing and disseminating sustainability options world- wide.
For Consumers Life cycle approaches helps point consumption in a more sustainable direction by offering better information for purchasing, transport systems, energy sources, to guide consumers.

iiSBE
International Initiative for Sustainable Built Environments
iiSBE is an international non-profit organization whose overall aim is to actively facilitate and promote the adoption of policies, methods and tools to accelerate the movement towards a global sustainable built environment.

IISBE brings a large network of researchers and practitioners and a strong track-record in advancing the sustainable building agenda through the Sustainable Building series of conferences and the GB/SBTool to SBCI. SBCI and iiSBE (with others) will initially collaborate on the 'SB' conference series up to 2010, and sustainable building knowledge systems.
